📣 CIRCUS KIDZ IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Who doesn't love to bounce! Jumping on the mini trampoline is great for developing aerial awareness, body stability and core strength. Kids will start by learning a basic straight jump, then as their confidence grows, they will have the opportunity to learn tuck jumps, straddles, stars, half turns and full turns. We will always ensure the safety of our students by being right next to them with every jump and assisting when needed.
Acrobatic skills increase strength and flexibility and also builds confidence and coordination. Kids will love to learn handstands against a wall, cartwheel bunny hops on a soft mat and forward rolls down a soft triangle wedge. All of our equipment is of the highest quality, ensuring your child is always safe. We will assist each child individually until we are confident that they can perform the skill safely by themselves. Kids are always monitored closely and spotted while they perform a skill.
Adagio is a form of acrobatics that requires a base (instructor) and a flyer (child). The base will stand, or lie down, in a strong position while the flyer performs different poses, balancing on the base's feet, hands, shoulders, knees, thighs or back. A popular pose with children is where the base lies down and places their feet on the flyer's stomach and hips, the base then raises their legs into a 90 degree position and the flyer lifts their chest and puts their arms out like a flying bird!
Hula hooping is a great way to keep active and also improves coordination.
Hula hooping isn't just spinning a hoop around your waist, kids can also try to spin a hoop on their arm, attempt to spin it on the ground or roll it to their friends. We also place hoops on the floor for jumping and hopping from hoop to hoop as part of our fun obstacle course!
Learning how to balance is an essential part of a child's development. In our Circus classes, kids will learn how to walk on a low balance beam with the assistance of their instructor. They will then progress to pony walks, ninja kicks, walking backwards and hopping on the beam! Balancing not only helps develop a strong core, it's also beneficial when learning how to ride a bike or scooter!
Juggling takes practice and patience and it's also a whole lot of fun! In our classes, kids will start by learning how to throw a small juggling bean bag from one hand to the other, creating a rainbow shape. This is the basis of juggling and it's trickier than it seems! Juggling improves hand eye coordination and concentration, as well as being a fun and stimulating activity.
Plate spinning requires balancing skills and perseverance! Kids will attempt to spin and balance a plastic plate on a stick then maybe balance the plate on their nose or finger! Plate spinning is also a fun group activity, kids can throw their plates up in the air and their friends can try to catch the plate on their stick.
